Petrochemical giant Ineos has warned residents in the Grangemouth to expect levels of elevated flaring today.

An Ineos spokesperson said: “We are undertaking a piece of maintenance work on one of our manufacturing plants on Monday, July 11. As a consequence, through Monday there may be spells of controlled elevated flaring from the south side of the site, that may be evident to those in the vicinity.

"The teams will make every effort to reduce the level and duration of the flaring. We apologise in advance.”
