A tale as old as time came to Carronshore Primary at the end of term as the pupils put on the school’s first show in over ten years.

Pupils in P5 to P7 were given the opportunity to take part in the production of Beauty and the Beast JR.

Auditions took place in November and rehearsals started in January for the musical production, which they performed for the wider school community including family and friends.

The show was organised by teacher Emily Ferguson, who has just completed her probationer year at the school.

She said: “The children worked hard for over eight months acting, dancing and singing and it all came together when they performed.

"It had been my dream to create experiences for children within the creative arts and to be able to provide an experience like this has been an honour.

"I’m so lucky the school provided all the resources needed to produce thos show and I want to say thank you to everyone who supported me in producing it.

"The Young Portonians from Grangemouth came out to do the lights and sound for the show and Larbert Musical Theatre, which I’m part of, provided the costumes.”

The experience was enjoyed by those children who took part in it.

Speaking about their roles, Grace said: “I loved being Mrs Potts as it helped me improve my singing and it was an exciting experience to be a part of.”

Ivy commented: “I was very happy I got the part of Cogsworth as I loved playing the character as I liked how he spoke.”

Rosie added: “Being Belle was a great experience but also hard and I loved the challenge of playing her. Rehearsals were hard work but worth it. In high school I’m definitely going to enjoy doing drama.”
