Hide AdAsad Izaz (34) and Callum Grant (33) added 60. Stenhousemuir managed 230 for seven wickets off their 50 overs. Five batters got a good start but each failed to turn that into consequential scores.
In reply, visitors Drumpellier scored 232/8 and whilst wickets fell regularly, no one could shift the Drumpellier professional Jayathilake who scored 95 not out.
With five runs required off the last two balls, Jayathilake struck a long hop for six to win the match with one ball to spare.
On Sunday, Stenhousemuir’s second XI travelled to Newton Mearns to take on Mearns’ second string. The game turned out to be a tightly fought match with Stenny losing by two wickets.
